Founders' Dating: 3 cities, diverse startups collaborating

Building a team is remarkably similar to playing a game of chess: you must select the right pieces and place them in a position that provides a solid foundation for the rest of the game. You're up against an unpredictable force, and the only way to beat it is to think several moves ahead and move quickly. Ideas can pivot and evolve as they grow, funding can always be found elsewhere, and the market will always change with an endless supply of competitors, but the team serves as a pillar through all the ups and downs.

At 100X.VC we are constantly on the lookout to solve the problems faced by early-stage companies and finding a co-founder is one of the biggest issues encountered by founders. Founders’ Dating is a not-for-profit initiative that we started to help founders tackle this issue. We do this by connecting start-up founders with individuals talented in the skills that they are looking for.

To date, we have organized 6 editions of the founder’s dating event impacting more than 4500 startup founders. This year, we witnessed the participation of more than 500 entrepreneurs & professionals across 3 cities(Bangalore, Mumbai & Pune).

At the event, startup founders and individuals were given the opportunity to interact and build meaningful business relationships with one another.

Although 30% of the companies we have invested in so far were started by solo founders the benefits of having a competent co-founder far outweigh the cons. After all, having the right skills for an early-stage company can make or break it. Having the right co-founder is not only for managing the work but also important to manage the emotional ups and downs of starting a company. A co-founding team is the backbone of the company, on which the rest of the team hinges. Every decision you make will resonate within the organization for years to come. It is important to strike the right balance at all points in time. With a co-founder, that process is significantly simpler.

It’s not impossible to go solo but a startup is hard enough, so why build it alone?
