Vatsal Kanakiya is the Chief Technology Officer at 100X.VC, India's first Fund to invest in early stage startups using iSAFE - India SAFE Notes and aims to invest in 100 start-ups in a year, 100X.VC invested in 20 very innovative and disruptive startups in December, 2019 at the VC Pitch Day for Class 01 of 2019. He is also a part of the Investment Team at Mehta Ventures. His role at Mehta Ventures is to have a unique view of what's next due to his tech background. Vatsal has unparalleled research capabilities, ability to engage with experts to evaluate the target company’s technology including IPs. He also performs valuation analysis via modeling and helps in preparing internal investment memos along with researching potential competitors to the target company.
Vatsal helped Mehta Ventures get a permanent seat to co-invest at Plug N Play which funds over 250 startups a year. In the one year he has invested in 20+ early stage companies in the diverse tech and non-tech sectors. He was able to get Mehta Ventures investments in some very unique business models like: Miraculex (The best tasting, healthiest sweeteners are derived from exotic fruits that evolved to provide sweetness without sugar or negative health impacts), AuroraQ (A quantum computing startup that develops standardized and modular quantum components), YourChoice Therapeutics (Revolutionizing birth control options for women and men by developing hormone-free contraceptives) and few more.
Vatsal has previously worked with prestigious firms in the VC space like Venture Catalysts and Mumbai Angels. Before that he worked in the Technology division of Morgan Stanley. Vatsal has also worked with LV Prasad Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, and MIT Media Labs on various medical devices that help in treating vision issues in infants.
Vatsal's expertise as a venture capitalist at seed stage will help him take larger bets in coming years. Being the youngest VC in the town he will have lots of opportunities to help founders build their companies.
