Sometime not scaling too fast is better than growing without any direction. Future clearly is that most startups will go global.

-Vineet Patni, Managing Partner at Wepartner Consult

Team 100X interviewed some of the top investors across the globe about their venture investing journeys, startups, and India. Here,Vineet Patni, Managing Partner at Wepartner Consult shares his responses.

Q1. What is your motivation to be in venture investing business?

Its an addiction now I suppose; to back innovation, new ideas and see the founders succeed. Love the conversations with them in the process get some method to madness but enjoy learning what they are doing.

Q2. Describe your workday and leisure day, how does it look like.

Its a mix and not very structured; priorities change but family and entrepreneurs are always priority… one can always find time if it is a priority.

Q3. What is your view on the future of India as a market?

Quite exited but also want people to be realistic on size and scale. Sometime not scaling too fast is better than growing without any direction. Future clearly is that most startups will go global.

Q4. Help describe your investment thesis and ideas you would like to back

?

Any idea backed with a solid founder is good. Just that to see possible tail winds and head winds; i mean the size and growth of the market itself.

Q5. What are your 5 key learnings from your experience as a venture investor?

  1. If you like something; back it and invest.
    2. Learn but also help founder in the best possible manner.
    3. Engage with founder often; don’t micromanage but be there as a sounding board.
    4. Don't hesitate to help founder decide when time to Pivot.
    5. Introduce like minded folks to founder to help them learn and grow.

Q6. How do you support your portfolio companies?

Extreme level of engagement, I am happy to role up the sleeves.
